This can be the Pope, abbots, nuns (representing the church), various knights and other local rulers (representing the lords of England), various peasants and rebels, magicians, astrologers, and even representatives of 'fantasy' style factions, such as the seelie court (elves). During this playing phase, the player is presented with the view of the king's throne room, as he is visited by a messenger or a leader from one of the factions. A text-based, multiple-choice storyline also interrupts construction every once in a while.
